Planning where your family photo session will take place is an important detail, but it shouldn’t cause added stress! Beautiful photos can be made virtually anywhere, as long as we have good light + a family who loves each other.

When we have our introductory phone call to chat about what you’re looking for, I always like to ask a few questions about the activities you love doing. This helps me figure out what makes your family unique, and what you value, so I can help you capture photos that say “this is us!”

As I was helping the S family plan their session, they shared that when they booked engagement pictures years ago, they were originally considering German Village but picked another location instead… and as a result, their photos weren’t 100% them. They’ve been hoping to get back to German Village for a photo session ever since!

This felt like the natural choice for their summer family photos, and it suited them perfectly. At first, they were a little nervous about how their rambunctious 2-year-old would cooperate for a full hour… especially around dinner time! But thanks to a late nap, our relaxed plan, and a couple well-timed snack breaks, he did amazing! We let him do all the things he loves like getting rowdy, picking up every rock, and pointing out every blue car (because that’s the best color, duh!)

And don’t even think for a second that I would skip an ice cream stop at the Jeni’s walk-up window. I can’t think of anything more fun for a two-year-old than eating ice cream before dinner… and thankfully, these parents were 100% on board with this plan! Remember, session day is ONE day out of 365 other days… it pays off to make that day as fun as humanly possible.

FUN = happy kids = happy parents = beautiful photos.

We often pull out our photo box and stare in awe at our family of 3 as we prepare for our new baby in August.

I’m so thankful for Daisy’s help along the way and her pure talent to capture our memories in such a beautiful way.
