Our pets are family. They’re with us through it all, bringing us joy, laughter, and unconditional love. Forever still wouldn’t be enough with them. As our pets near the end of their life, whether from old age or illness, it can be easy to forget to capture final memories with them. That’s where I come in.

Rainbow Bridge Sessions are no-cost, 45 minute documentary photo sessions for aged or ailing pets & their people, offered in the comfort of your home. Space is limited, as I offer these sessions free of charge and around my regular availability. Please get in touch as soon as possible to discuss your session.

End of life pet photography – frequently asked questions

Rainbow Bridge sessions are a heartfelt gift, created specifically to honor the life and legacy of your pet. Immediate family members are absolutely welcome to be part of the experience — these sessions are about the bond you share. Well-mannered pet siblings can participate too. However, please note that a Rainbow Bridge session is not a good substitute for a family photo session. If you’re hoping for more family-centered photos, you’re warmly invited to book a full documentary session where we’ll have the time and flexibility for that kind of storytelling.

As a documentary photographer, I photograph families at home. This is the most personal and meaningful place for your photos, and it’s also the safest and most comfortable place for your pet! Rainbow Bridge sessions happen rain or shine, so for that reason, I don’t have you come out to a park or public outdoor place where the weather and other elements are outside of our control. If the weather’s nice, we can hang out in your backyard!

Rainbow Bridge sessions are intended for pets who are nearing the end of their life due to age, illness, or a terminal diagnosis from a veterinarian. This could include conditions like cancer, kidney failure, heart disease, severe arthritis, or mobility loss — or simply the natural slowing down that comes with old age.

Easy, heartfelt, and meaningful. There might be tears, and that’s okay! There will also be hugs, laughter, plenty of kisses, and spontaneity. A session lasts about 45 minutes, which will be over before you know it. Definitely let me know if there are any special details, quirky behaviors, or characteristics of your pet you want captured. Have plenty of favorite treats on hand, or even some ice cream or a hamburger for some super special memories!

Turnaround time is typically 4 weeks, however, during less busy seasons galleries may be delivered faster.

You will receive a beautiful online gallery with all your edited images for download. The exact number of photos delivered can vary depending on your pet’s unique situation and what you’d like captured, but generally, you can expect 30-50 images. You may print your images wherever you wish, or order professional prints a la carte through the online gallery.
